Similarities Between Children of LA and Children in Conflict
In our class, we are studying about the effects of conflict and children. We learned about a girl named Martha who was affected by the civil war in Sierra Leone.
There are are many similarities and differences between children in places of conflict and children in my own neighborhood. For example, we noticed that in both places there is poverty. Similarly, we both experience losses of family members, sometimes through violence.
A difference we noticed is that there are more consequences for lawbreaking here. Also, in our neighborhood we have school that has not been destroyed, which allows us to study. Comparing children from different places helps us see what we have in common as well as what challenges are out there to solve.
