When you post online, you post to the world. The internet provides us with so many opportunities to socialize, entertain ourselves, and to learn, but these opportunities also come with risks. From social media to email and browsing the internet, we encounter risks each day, sometimes without even realizing it until it has occurred. So, what should we post and are we safe with what what we post, where we connect, and what information we are giving out online?
We pulled some of our most interesting digital facts and figures from VOY Citizens papers on digital citizenship:
61% of study participants said that they deleted the messages when they experienced cyberbullying or hateful content online
17% of participants in a UNICEF Argentina study admitted to creating a fake profile on social media
70% of children in Indonesia reported that strangers tried to add them as a friend on a social networking site
1 in 5 children have experienced some form of cyberbullying or other violence, or harm online
