With the advent and reliance on nature's fluid (crude oil), our lives and environment have become plagued with all manner of pains- from oil spills, to gas flares to land grabs to deforestation to environmental degradation, from degradation to the loss of biodiversities from loss of biodiversities to starvation and death and weather / climate changes. All of this happens because we fail to play safe with that which nature has given to us (natural resources). We cannot explain t...

Deforestation is when humans remove forest areas and the land is turned to something other than a forest. Sometimes this is done because humans need the trees or because humans need to use the land as farmland or even to create a city. The video above provided by NASA shows a place in Africa where the forests have been cleared and you can see the dirt coming through. National geographic website says "Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world’s land area, but swaths...

Deforestation is one of the problems which ensues in some forested countries. Due to the problem, not only are forested countries facing troubles, but industrialized countries with little forest are in trouble too. Yet, this problem is included in some drafts of the international agreements such as Bali Road Map by UNFCCC; and REED by UNFAO, and UNDP, UNREDD. On the international level, most strategies are needed to be discussed in the long term. On the other hand, the agreement of each co...

The amount of rainfall largely depends on the development of the Inter- Tropical Convergence zone (ITCZ) over Africa. Here in Zambia the poor earn their living on farming and if the ITCZ shifts away from the country, it means, therefore that there will be little or no rainfall at all hence, there will be droughts. Other causes of droughts in Zambia are deforestation and the cutting down of trees. To ensure that there is a stable water table in Zambia we should avoid the cutting dow...

Climate change is not a theory but, it is a real situation, which treats the survival of life. This is because all organisms on earth depend on the environment to sustain their lives. Climate change can be described as the significant change of weather patterns and conditions of an area, over a long period of time. Climate change is a natural process but, due to human activities (emission of green houses, pollution, deforestation etc.) the rate at which climate change occurs has ac...
