I took an Environmental Science class last year. We learned that the general global populous of humans will not overshoot and plummet beneath its carrying capacity. Rather, we discovered that food production is not lacking and there is not a real shortage of food product in the world. If you think about it differently, you will see that this global dilemma of hunger is not a function of poor productivity or lack of resources. In the world, if we see it this way, we can assume that...

Stop Child Labour. Often we hear voices from the responsible and hearted people of society. How we can we be the ones who are also kind-hearted and responsible?! Lets talk ... Children do heavy work for the sake of money. The need money for buying food, food for themselves or for their family, and also for some other basic needs like clothes, drugs, school fees etc. Can you imagine this scenario: A 10 year old boy comes to a factory for work because his younger sister is sick and she needs medic...

It is typically Malaysian to eat half a bowl of rice and throw the other half into the bin. It seems like it has never crossed anyone's mind that half way across the globe, people are starving to death. Malnutrition is slowly killing them all, not to mention the many other diseases that take their lives. This poverty deeply affects the younger generation, the future leaders. How are they to make this world a better and more sustainable world if they themselves are in starvation...

There is no denying the fact that there is poverty in the world. It is an inevitable fact that people around the world must suffer because they have no money to sufficiently live on. Children in some places like Bangladesh have to go to work because they are the primary breadwinner in there family. Their parents don't even earn enough in order to maintain a family. The simple solution is to not let poverty define us. We must not tell ourselves that because we are poor that we wil...

I felt it was important to share this disturbing and emotional video of children as young as ten years old being subjected to extremely hazardous child labor in a mine located in Nyatike, Migori town. It's a toxic toil that shows scores of children torturing their bodies in open mines where the use of child labor has become common practice. What creative ways can we eradicate child labor from the face of the earth? What culture are we luring our children into?

“Giving birth to a child while myself being a child was the most painful experience of my life,” said Rubina, a woman from Pakistan who had been married at 12 years old. She was interviewed by the team of Girls Not Brides – The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage, on this website (http://www.girlsnotbrides.org/girls-voices/rubinas-story-pakistan/). Before we get to the causes and the impact of child marriage, I think we should learn about the meaning. Child marriage, a...

The other day, I was watching a segment on the program NBC Nightly News in which a journalist was speaking with young Syrian children. I was astonished for two reasons: first, they spoke English at a higher caliber than most natives of my own country and carried themselves with such poise greatly unexpected from children of their age; second, they spoke of the war and the concept of death as if it were mundane, something to which they were obligated to acclimatize themselves. It fr...
