On December 3, 2013, I participated in the Katy Perry event with my school, The Brooklyn International High School. It was amazing! Our school was invited to attend this special event at the UNICEF House in New York City where Katy Perry was going to be announced as UNICEF's newest Goodwill Ambassador. I liked meeting Katy Perry and the UNICEF staff. Katy talked about her trip to Madagascar with UNICEF to help children there. My favorite part was hearing Katy Perry talk about her t...

What is love? Are you walking in true love? Do you truly love your neighbour as yourself? So many things have been said about love, both those that truly reflect what true love is and those that do not but one thing I am convinced about is that love is the greatest of all and it conquers everything. I came across a piece written by Joel Osteen which really inspired me and has become a creed in my life. I have it pasted on my wall where I recite it every day. It has really boosted m...

Young people remain at the centre of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in terms of rates of infection, vulnerability, impact, and potential for change. They have grown up in a world changed by AIDS but many still lack comprehensive and correct knowledge about how to prevent HIV infection. This situation persists even though the world has agreed that young people have the human right to education, information and services that could protect them from harm. Young people are disproportionatel...

In respect to the late hon. Nelson Mandela, this short message should help all of us show case our tribute based on Tata's unconditional love for children. "There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children." R.I.P Nelson Madiba Mandela.

“…It is an ideal for which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” Mandela, 1964 Nelson Rolihlalhla Mandela is an icon celebrated globally more for his conviction than his achievements. Someone tweeted; “Mandela set out on the long walk to freedom but ended up at humble.” This is a man who stood for something and was ready to lose so much more for it; sadly, this is nothing we can say of today’s breed of yo...

As Kenya turned 50 on 12-12-2013, I was celebrating peace, love and unity. Kenya has come a long way from the gruesome Post Election Violence that took place in 2007. I swell with pride and joy as I watch my serene country grow into the nation I will be forever proud of. Happy Birthday Kenya.

It was an amazing and inspiring experience and we all...
