A child has the right to return home. I await for the day I can return and place my foot on my earth. I want to feel the heat on my face and embrace the atmosphere. I yearn to hear the sounds and the smells of the busy city. The constant sounds of the car horns, music from the restaurants play and children busily chatting on their way to school. I want to feel the warm and loving embrace of my family and to see those I never ever had the chance to meet. I would like to...

I live in a society where women/girls still face challenges. To name a few (at the top of my head) domestic violence, something like 20% less pay, forced marriages, rape and so on. But the one thing women/girls can do more (more a less) is own land, own a car, choose what job they do, walk out on the streets. But most importantly study, study away till their hearts are content! Study to be a great professor in a top university or just graduate high school and go into the world of w...

I have started to investigate the way in which contemporary media represents disability (more specifically physical disability). After taking a closer look, I have realised that the media plays a huge role in society. Whether it be through radio, internet or broadcasts the media has a huge influence upon society. In my own opinion I do feel that the media does unfairly represent persons with disability. The mass media audience, I wonder what views they may have of persons with a...

As the plane takes off for one of its routine flights, so do these children. These children are living their normal lives day in day out. These children (whatever their background) make up the percentage of children in the world who are able to go to school, and even Secondary/High school! Imagine if the many millions upon million girls and boys were able to go to school. Imagine the benefits, future income and all round professional development would amount to things far greater than little or...

Although this video provokes happy thoughts and upon your first viewing I am presuming that you will that you will see groups of girls happy. But as stated, most of these girls have struggled in life. Education is the one thing that could have made them happy, supress their bad experiences or….. I don’t know! Whenever I watch this video (which I do frequently) I just thank God that I have an education and continue to be educated. I now realise that there is more to standing in front of a c...

Inspired by this video, I have deeply thought about education and its purpose. Education (what I thought it was) is something you study and learn, but once the exam has been taken what do I do with that knowledge… I doubt that I will never be able to use some topics covered again. So speaking of education in a place where I am surrounded by four walls, a few windows a white board and a door. I see someone who is there to teach me what is probably only going to be used once and once only in my...

I was once told if you have no talent, then you need education to survive. If that is the case then going to school and being educated is a must… right? As we all know education is not accessed by children in the world. Countries are trying to engage all children into education. With regards to a child’s right the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 has been adopted by most countries worldwide, Article 28 of the UNCRC 1989 states that a child has the right to primary...
