The most marginalized children of the world can do much better and are better. All children, regardless of where and how they were born as well as what they were born with are entitled to survival, development, protection and care as well as a better standard of living and participation in governance and society. However, due to stigma, ignorance, neglect, superstition and communication barriers, these children find themselves isolated from the societies that they live in and...

This audio piece gives an indication of how radio is being used in South Africa as a very powerful medium for youth to give young people a voice and connects them with their communities. It is also through this medium that young reporters are able to develop and refine their journalism and life skills to make a great impact in their communities. The fact that BBC Radio Oxford recognizes this initiative is a great bonus for the young reporters. Big up to Children's Radio Foundation.

16 Days of activism against children and women abuse In South Africa, as in other Southern African countries, the period between 25 November and 10 December marks the campaign against women and child abuse. During this period, various activities take place to bring awareness against gender based violence and brainstorm ways to end this scourge. Among all these initiatives, the one that appeals to me most is the Cyber Dialogues which facilitates on-line discussions amongst differe...

Everyone has a basic right to live without any form of fear and more especially our children. I believe violating this basic human right is a great disgrace to our society and an indication of how really twisted some people's minds have become. I am raising this issue, having been quite disturbed by the recent spade of abuse and murders done on children in South African townships. In one incident two girls were found to have been raped and murdered, when in another the children are...
