If you have read any of my articles, then you will probably know about a movie called "The Normal Heart". I have written about its plot, as well as how it affected me and why it changed my life. But, today, I'd like to talk about one of its main characters; Felix Turner. Felix is a journalist working at "The New York Times". Ned Weeks is a gay activist, who tries to raise awareness about the new epidemic that kills gay men, as well as to convince the government to find a tr...

Happy New Year, everyone; Καλή Χρονιά ("Kali Hroñá''), as we say in Greece. 2015 was a year that that kept us in our feet. There were beautiful moments, happy moments and sad moments. From terror attacks to marriage equality in the US, we witnessed things that made us think, feel, and help, each one of us, in our own, unique way. The new year is here, ready for us to leave our mark; to make a change and do the little things that will make our world a better place...

"If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change". This is going to be a short post for something big and important: human rights. We live in a world where "discrimination", "racism", "war", "inequality" and more are a part of our everyday lives. Thousands of people in different parts of the world are denied even the basics: a safe environment, access to clean water, food and education – things that are important for a person to live...

''Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world." -Malala Yousafzai October 9, 2012. The world watches in shock a big tragedy, taking place in Pakistan. Malala, a 15-year-old girl gets shot three times by a gunman. The Taliban takes the responsibility of the attack, while the young girl is in critical condition. In a previous article I wrote about my personal experience of the difficult process towards the national exams, as well as the possible plans I had after the announcement of the results. A year later things have changed, and thankfully the news is good. After nine months, full of studying hard and taking private lessons, I took part in the national exams of Greece for the second time. As a result, I passed and was accepted to a Nursing school. It wasn't a profession th...

"Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power. Behaviors used to assert such domination can include verbal harassment or threat, physical assault or coercion, and such acts may be directed repeatedly towards particular targets. Rationalizations for such behavior...

As you may have understood, from previous posts (here and here) the issue of HIV/AIDS, is probably more important for me than ever. As a result, the campaign that has started, in order to end adolescent AIDS, could not leave me uninterested. Especially when we talk about ages that are so close to mine. Most of us have heard of HIV/AIDS - how it is being transmitted and what are the ways to prevent it - but not everyone. According to the website allintoendadolescentaids.org/, 2,10...

It seems that 2015 will be a crucial year for the world. This year two UN events will take place. The first one will be in September in New York, where world leaders, after the "Millennium Development Goals" (which were put in 2000), will put a new set of goals, the "Sustainable Development Goals", which will include the end of poverty, inequality and environmental destruction. The second will be in December in Paris, where world leaders will make an agreement about finding ways...

Happy New Year everyone! 2014 said "bye" and 2015 is here and it's waiting for us to do so many things! But first, please let me write a few things about the year that left on a personal level. Different things happened that year. First of all my national examinations. As you may know from older posts (http://www.voicesofyouth.org/en/posts/waiting-for-the-results-), (http://www.voicesofyouth.org/en/posts/the-results-and-a-confession-) the whole process was really stres...
