Bullying is a problem in most schools; unavoidable maybe, as people try to climb social ladders and to be at the top of the hierarchy. But it is not something we can ignore and pretend that it does not exist. Perhaps it may not sound as important or as crucial as solving the problem of climate change or advocating for women's rights, but it is an equally disturbing problem in today's world.I am sure many of you have heard of bullying cases before, or have even been the victim of bullying. Mostly...

Hugging is an action rarely done in my family. We do love each other, but we are not very physical in showing our actions, preferring to say “I love you” instead of hugging. Sometimes, though, we do hug. When I am sad, my mother will pull me close and hug me, and the comfort that covers me is astounding; it feels so much more soothing and better than words. After wondering why this was so, I decided to do some research and came up with some interesting answers.Hugging does apparently make you hap...

Then again, it could be because of the way ‘iridescent’ rolls neatly off my tongue when I say it. Or it simply could be because of it’s meaning: A shimmer, a sparkle, a splash of colours, magical under the sun.I could say that words are iridescent, and though it isn’t technically correct, I find it true, so true. Words bring life to stories, and characters...

In this world that we live in today, what may seem true may not actually be the truth. We are now in an era, classified as 'post-truth.' Crowned as the Oxford Word of the Year 2016, post-truth means (as from the Oxford dictionary): Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief. Our lives are increasingly connected with social media - around me I see bowed heads everywhere, people absorbed i...
