Korea is becoming a multicultural society very fast. Maybe too fast because society is still confused about what it means to be a multicultural. Lack of education about multiculturalism and diversity has led to a misunderstanding and mistreatment of multicultural Koreans. Education that fosters diversity should start with students at an early age. However, the Korean educational system is not doing enough to promote diversity. One the one hand, we need to promote diversity to Koreans; but on the other hand, we need to empower multicultural children. We need to have both programs establish an order for Korean society to be a genuine multicultural society. These two projects are like wings. Birds cannot fly with one wing. If Korean society wants to soar high as a multicultural society, promoting diversity at schools and empowering multicultural students are must.
