Youth in New York City came together to discuss the key issues of Rio+20 and to develop a set of principles to take to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in June. In this short film, participants answer two simple questions: what does sustainable development mean to you, and what is your message for world leaders?

At the end of the event a youth commitment was produced that affirmed the common vision and aspirations of the youth participants.

"We, the inheritors of this world, see Rio+20 not as an outcome but as the beginning of a long-term process and movement for the future we want. We commit to being ombudspersons in our own lives by educating our communities on how to impact the international dialogue on sustainable development. We pledge to work in partnership with youth around the world to advocate for policies and programs that ensure the future we need."
