One major problem facing education, besides making it available for everyone, is having it evolve to fit the needs of an ever changing world. We can't have schools using the same methods they used decades ago, it won't apply! We live in a world connected by the Internet, we should use this connection to educate the masses!

In Subtheme B one of the solutions to the problem of reaching every child was using the magic of Online Education to give access to children in developing nations. Everyday more and more receive access to the internet. (This site offers an estimate of how many users have access.) But this Politico article begs to differ. One of the arguments raised is the protection o...

Through few years now, I had some experience in helping kids with their school subjects such as English or Math as a volunteering task or simply to save some pocket money. However, this time things were slightly different. In the beginning of summer, my neighbors’ seven-year-old daughter, “Hiba”, asked me to teach her how to use her new tablet and some computer basics as well. And, I was glad to accept, so we set up a schedule for our sessions. In fact I accepted this task fo...

100 years ago, the Panama Canal was opened for business linking two channels of trade for the first time ever in a more efficient and appropriate manner. The Panama Canal is a symbol of international relations, new age globalization, and the universal exchange of culture. Yes, a 48 mile long series of locks has the capability to impact us on such a level. The Panama Canal was not only an economic venture but also a symbol of the United States’ growing involvement with Latin A...

When I saw Assignment #5 – to create an 'Inspire!' portrait by interviewing a young person who has an interesting job or career and who you think would be an inspiration for youth – in the VOY Blogger Info Packet that my Internship Manager sent me last June, two people instantly came into my mind. I am writing about one of them today. I thought it would be best if I do away with the ‘Inspire!’ profile format, so here it goes. He is Siddhartha Nanayakkara. I first met...

What impact do social networking sites like Facebook have on our lives? Some might say there are more advantages compared to disadvantages. However, as it changes our lives, it is more social and personal and does not add much impact on our development. Instead we should focus on platforms like Voices of Youth and Connect where real issues are discussed that affect each and every individual. Solutions can be arrived at and young people get to experience the real issues in the w...

This is such a perfect week for me, because I got a chance to join to the very 1st UNICEF Activate; Innovating for Children – Innovating for Equity by UNICEF Indonesia to celebrate the 25th Convention on the Rights of the Child. It was held on April 23rd, 2014 at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta, Indonesia. As a youngster, I feel really happy because there were many other youth that came to that place with the same purpose as me. We wanted to be inspired, to be involved and to be motivated...
