“Braaaaaghhh! Your alarm goes off, and you spring out of bed, into the shower, off down the stairs, trying to knot your tie and fix a cup of coffee at the same time. Oh! The toast is over baked, but then you think to yourself – “Lunch at work (school) would be better”, and with that thought you run out to catch the bus down the street. Tic-Tuc. Tic-Tuc. The day flows so normally, just like any Tuesday would; and even without looking at the time, you get off the chair and head for the cafeteria. It is 12.15pm – Lunch time! Then follows the usual sounds: people chatting and chewing; metal cutleries clicking on ceramic plates; and the occasional door slamming. The rest of the day drains away with sounds like: humming from the photocopy machine; clicking sound of the office stapler; zooming sound of the cars passing by; not forgetting the frequent shouts from Mr. Tom – he sure has a temper. So one is grateful to be out of the building and back to “home-sweet-home”. Now that’s your playlist for the day, as what’s left is to go to bed at the end of the game and run through the playlist again – starting with “Braaaaaaghhhh”

...note from the Past All the Peace is gone. Oh! What have I become It's dark, I'm staggering, No light for me to see Have I lost it all, Cos all I see is war Correct me if i'm wrong, but all the Peace is gone From the eyes of the little baby From the hands of a fallen army A press man's got blood on his diary Correct me if i'm wrong, but all the Peace is gone ...note from the Future The breaking of a dawn, It's pretty on the shore Sunlight is appearing, Oh! What a gathering This is want I w...

It sure's not news that drought has been confirmed in 3 E.African countries - it's all over the news and social networks. It's on twitter. It's on CNN. But then that's neither going to restore the state of these famine stricken countries nor give food to the populace. I come from a school of thought that strongly believes in Redistribution. I believe there is enough resource - water, air, clothes, power, food, etc. to go round, but it is not evenly distributed to meet the needs of people. Some...

"The idle mind is the devil's workshop" - a common saying, which really hits the point home on how to best reduce involvement of youth in Armed violence. It may seem too simple, but engaging youth in productive ventures is the only way they would turn away from the path of violence. The path of violence is a means by which they feel they can express themselves. Put the same people in front of a mic on a round table and they would tell the same thing. Let the youth know they are significant an...

Perhaps the real problem is not Teen Suicide. Perhaps it's just a problem of communication. I am talking. Are you listening? If you are listening, do you understand me? If you do, are you reacting accordingly? If you don't, are you asking me questions? A teenager would not just wake up one day and decide to commit suicide. It is often a progressive routine, which consist of numerous amount of rejection, misunderstanding, and misrepresentation. This happens when a teen sets out to find his/her i...

Last summer’s hot topic: South-Africa’s progress by the World Cup. Debates are taking place, conclusions are often already set. Of the investments for South-Africa’s World Cup is nothing left? Is this conclusion real? I hope to set out to meet with 26 young researchers who have taken the initiative and are going to take a look themselves in May of this year. From Johannesburg we will check what changed on the governmental, societal or development level. Are you curious what we will find? F...
