Energy Development Improvements in Nepal
- 1 Article
Renewable energy sources are being developed and promoted by the Rural Energy Development Programme, especially in Nepal. Such improvements include small hydropower and solar heating systems that provide reliable, low-cost electricity to large rural communities. Since 1996, electricity has been brought for the first time to almost half a million people in Nepal by the almost 400 micro-hydro power plants. These improvements have led to the creation of new businesses and increased rural incomes as well as increased enrollment in schools, improvements in child and maternity health, improvements in water quality, and access to modern sanitation.
