Mitanto Secondary School is just one among the 10 Schools participating in the Voices of Youth Connect project in Zambia. Mitanto is situated in Kitwe town on the Coperbelt Province of Zambia.

Kitwe is the second largest city in terms of size and population in Zambia. With a population of 504,194 (2010 census provisional) Kitwe is one of the most developed commercial and industrial areas in the nation, alongside Ndola and Lusaka. It has a complex of mines on its north-western and western edges.

Because of the fumes from the mining industries, the pupild from the Connect team have embarked on a robust tree planting innitiative aimed at planting 100 plus indegenous trees before the end of this tree planting season(April). The Pupils are working in partnership with the Kitwe Forestry Department who are helping provide free seedlings.
