Stop Child Labour. Often we hear voices from the responsible and hearted people of society. How we can we be the ones who are also kind-hearted and responsible?! Lets talk ... Children do heavy work for the sake of money. The need money for buying food, food for themselves or for their family, and also for some other basic needs like clothes, drugs, school fees etc. Can you imagine this scenario: A 10 year old boy comes to a factory for work because his younger sister is sick and she needs medic...

The Syrian War: a time of despair for the people of Syria that began with a small protest. I got a chance to interview the global executive talent consultant, World Business Forum speaker and prestigious Egon Zehnder executive Claudio Fernandez-Araoz the other day. We discussed several things, but perhaps the most important dealt with leadership, ethics and morals in a world that is forgetting the importance of holding the door open for someone. Although I understand this doesn't have direct relations to other posts that I've put up or some of the ones you guys put up, I...

A lobby group from the city of Mombasa, Kenya, is advocating for the distribution of contraceptives to Primary School children. Why, you may ask? Well... the group argues that condoms and other contraceptives be given to pupils to reduce sexual immorality. At this point, you must be paralyzed with shock. This news made me stiffen as little prickles of fear rose on the nape of my neck every second I imagined that this was actually happening. The government of Kenya recently propos...

Today is the day, Orange Day, which is celebrated on November 25th! Since 2008 with the creation of UNiTE to End Violence Against Women by the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, there have been campaigns fomenting plans to decrease and extinguish gender violence to eliminate inequalities. The aim is to promote civil, criminal, penal and processal laws, in favor of affected persons, and penalizing attackers. Victims suffer in the presence of conventionalisms and...

I felt it was important to share this disturbing and emotional video of children as young as ten years old being subjected to extremely hazardous child labor in a mine located in Nyatike, Migori town. It's a toxic toil that shows scores of children torturing their bodies in open mines where the use of child labor has become common practice. What creative ways can we eradicate child labor from the face of the earth? What culture are we luring our children into?

I am really thankful to UNICEF for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to meet Katy Perry. I know that everyone has a celebrity crush and I am one of them. I am grateful and it’s a great opportunity for me to participate in the Katy Perry event at UNICEF House in New York City. My high school, Brooklyn International, was invited to attend the event on December 3rd. I felt excited and kind of famous. When I told my friends that I met a world famous singer, they didn’t believe...

From going to this event I learned that Katy Perry went to Madagascar and saw these places where she thought it was wild. She saw a school in which students are inside studying and she was amazed. Also she would go to a center where she talked to women and how these women would tell her their problems. She made a song, Unconditionally, which has a connection to her visit to Madagascar. Also, looking at the video of her in Madagascar she also had fun with the people she saw especial...
