Girls and young women today are pretty familiar with computers and the Internet, and it may seem like they don't need encouragement anymore. But, to keep girls interested in science and mathematics, as well as believing they have something to contribute to areas like technology, hardware and software development, scientific research, and many other areas of technology, is still an important task. So I'm updating the site as much as possible right now. It will still seem a bit behind the times in...

Let me start by saying that the Internet is literally the greatest thing mankind has ever invented. One might say that this is hyperbole, but I lack the words to describe the importance of the internet in this day and age. Vital would not even come close to doing it justice. I am hard pressed to name something that you can’t do with the help of internet. And being a student at uni, one can safely say that a lot of my life revolves around the internet. As a disclosure, I will use...

Something pretty important is happening on the 12th of September this year. The UN Committee for the Rights of the Child will meet in Geneva to discuss updating the Convention for the Rights of the Child for a digital age. The world has certainly changed a lot since the 1980′s, the decade throughout which the convention was first drafted! To assist the Committee in their deliberations, and to ensure that young people’s experiences can directly inform their discussion, we are curr...

My name is Kesia and I am 18 years old from Zambia. The internet - which includes Facebook, Google, twitter - plays the big part in the average youths everyday life. The internet has been received with many different opinions. Some have welcomed it with open arms but in some extreme cases it is declared evil. A wise man once said "a knife in the hands of a chef can be used to prepare a meal but the same knife in the hands of the murderer will be used to take a life." This saying...

The internet has become part of our everyday life because of its ease access and diversity. It’s been a month since my last post published on VOY website and I feel so good because I finally found a time to sit and write about “The Recipe of My Happiness” in this week. I was accepted as a child facilitator on Dreamdelion, a community empowerment in Jakarta and we are really concerned about women and children. Two days ago, I went to the Dreamdelion class to teach the children. We aren’t teaching math, science or social studies. We are teaching moral values which...
