A group of youth delegates from Brazil and Mexico shared their personal stories and views on what the barriers are to education in their countries. The issues that they raised included: 1.Schools where teachers don't speak indigenous languages; 2. Poor quality of text books; 3. Violence and discrimination - especially for LGBT and indigenous youth; 4. Schools that are located far from w...

I love to educate myself on what's going on in this world whether it's the good stuff or the bad stuff. But, there's a reason I don't look at the news every day. FotoSynthesis is finally set to start in January. That’s only weeks away, and the team couldn’t be anymore geared up! Our teachers are ready, the team is ready, and our kids are ready. The only think we’re waiting on, is for our equipment to arrive to the non-profit we’re working with in Mexico (AIICDER). It’s hard to believe that an education program started by some students, is about to finally happen. But it’s only because of the amount of hard work put in by everyon...

By Karen Cirillo, Executive Producer, Children's Broadcasting Initiatives,UNICEF I’ve been coordinating the global OneMinutesJr. initiative since 2007. The project is an arts-based video initiative that seeks to capture the voices and expressions of youth on issues and subjects important to them. These viewpoints are captured in one-minute videos that are then shared through a multitude of platforms. In the past six years with the OneMinutesJr., I have met over 450 differ...
