Calling all budding young filmmakers! What do Child Rights mean to you? Tell us in a 60 second video! As the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child approaches in November 2014, we want to hear from you. Great story here! We produced this film in Derventa, a small city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in late 2011. It was a "protest video" in a way to tell the local authorities and the school administration that the school furniture was so old and squeaky that it was almost impossible to learn and study on it. Now, today we learned by chance that the school administration has replaced the old furniture. That's positive change! It's about enabling children to study in a decent learning en...

Valeria from Mexico participated in a OneMinutesJr workshop in Mexico City in 2013. Her film When I dance, I feel big was nominated for the annual award and she was invited to Amsterdam for the awards weekend alongside 14 other participants from around the world. She now put her impressions into a short video, together with her emotions and her love. Thanks, Valeria! Read more about the 2013 OneMinutesJr awards and participate in 2014!

This OneMinutesJr video was produced by Tse Sze Ho from Hong Kong. Let us hear what you think about it. What do you think is the background? What does this have to do with child rights?

The OneMinutesJr team is in Hong Kong this week to pave the ground for the Believe in zero, make a video! campaign of the UNICEF National Committee for UNICEF (http://www.unicef.org.hk/makeavideo_en/). The OneMinutesJr. gives youth the opportunity to have their voices heard by creating one minute videos that share their ideas, dreams, fascinations, anxieties and viewpoints on the world. The OneMinutesJr. held a workshop in Zaatari refugee camp, Jordan 18-23 January 2014. Read Part One and Part Two. Finally a full day of filming! There’s a lot to film, but we have a bit of extra time because the screening is not until the 6th day. 13-year-old Oday used to love swimmin...

It’s a wrap! The OneMinutesJr. Amman workshop wrapped up on the 5th day with a great final screening, but not before a lot of editing time. The last day was spent editing all 17 films the kids had filmed over the last few days. Video artists, Taatske and Olivia, made rough cuts to all the films based on the storyboards from the shoots. Each participant sat with one of the two artists to finalize, edit, cut it down to one minute and choose titles and music (if necessary)....

Filming and editing were non-stop on the last 2 days of the workshop. On the 4th day, we started out by driving to Baqa’a camp. Baqa’a began as a refugee camp in 1968 for Palestinians who left the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the 1967 Arab Israeli War. What were once tents are now concrete shelters, and the camp feels more like a town. Our first film shoot was for Maram, an 18-year old who has already been married and divorced. She was very open about expressing this...
