Well, there’s something I learnt last Sunday, on 16th November where the second tour of presidential elections in Romania took place. What I learned? That people matter. A lot. These elections have offered a huge surprise to all Romanians: on one hand, we selected a President which is part of the German minority in my country; on the other hand, the percentage of people who went to vote was one of the highest in the last 25 years of Romanian democracy. I won’t speak too m...

I think we all have thought about how it would be if you were the President of your country. Every time it came to my mind, I told myself instantly “What a great deal of work would that be … “. Maybe it is not the attitude you expected, but think a little bit: there are a lot of responsibilities you have to take on and I think very few people are able to manage them with success. But, what if I woke up this morning and I was the president of Romania? I’m going to ignore the...

In this world full of issues, darkness, unknown and fearful future, we tend to forget that we should be proud. We should be proud just for who we are, where we live, and the amazing people we have around! Even if we don’t have money, even if we feel hopeless, even if we feel alone, there’s always a place where each can find joy and peace with himself. And today, I want to tell you about what my country gives me to put in that place of mine. Well, of course, it literally giv...

This week I’ve been thinking about the youth in Romania and about its passions and interests. And slowly, I began to observe that these have started to estrange from culture, knowledge, true love or a lot other things that the human being is to be admired for. Let me explain this phenomenon. It starts with television, internet, newspapers and maybe others too. There you can see, by taking just a glance, examples of how to succeed in life without making an effort. Just an exampl...

First of all, I want to say that I am really excited about being a blogging intern at Voices of Youth: I am now allowed to speak my mind to people who want to know more and who want to relate and understand me, not judge me. This, the feeling that what I say matters, that I am heard, is absolutely unique. My only concern is that I won’t be able to picture my entire world for you, but I will do my best! Now, I would like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Marilena,...

On November 1st, Voices of Youth Mapper Diana I. from Romania found out her photo for the Urgency Rank Prototype landed on the front page of an article for UNICEF.org. The article features young people who helped take the digital mapping platform to the next level. Here is what she tweeted: @DianaIsvoranu: It seems the garbage picture that I took for UNICEF somehow ended up on the first page. :)) An added sense of urgency. Read the full article here
