1000 days left to meet our target!

Was I the only person who did not know about the Millennium Development Goals?
These targets were apparently defined in the early 2000’s to improve the lives of millions worldwide. Amazing achievements were made in the past twelve years, including a major drop in child mortality and fifty percent cut in world poverty, and I had no idea.
Many thanks to Voices of Youth for sharing this incredible vision and work that is being done by many countries and organizations across the globe.
It was while reading an article on Voices of Youth that I discovered this website by UNICEF (http://www.unicef.org/lastchild). It warms me to see that outstanding organizations like UNICEF have taken the important role to put the last child first. I have often feared that the most vulnerable and most in need, those that I have come to call the 'invisibles', were often left out of major international programs. It is extremely encouraging to know that today their well-being is a global priority, one that we should all strive for.
To this day, many people are still unaware of the MDGs and its importance; and this is something we can definitely solve collectively. I encourage all of you, fellow Voices of Youth bloggers, to take a digital action in promoting and fostering this global agenda. It only takes a few seconds to tweet it, to engage our networks and to become a UNICEF champion.
We definitely owe this one to our world.
