I had a minor accident a few days ago. My forehead, a part of my cheek and a small patch of my shoulder all burnt.I asked for a mirror to stare at the person in it. My face with a burnt forehead. I smiled and shrugged and quickly put the mirror aside and nodded at the Doctor to bandage my forehead again. I don’t know how long it would take for the complete recovery of my forehead. For the current complexion of my forehead which is all pink and white with patches of black and dead skin to match w...

Dear Mother Earth,I wish I could begin this letter just like I’ve always been taught in school how to go about writing an informal letter when it’s your mother’s birthday and you want to express your love to her.Unfortunately, we’ve all been awful and horrible to you and I can’t begin this letter with – ‘How are you’. We took you for granted and never bothered to love you back. And even now, if I could give you all the love in my heart hoping that somehow it could heal you from the inside; it wo...

Dear family, To a father, a mother and a younger sister. To papa, maa and Jiya. It’s dinner time when I’m writing this letter to you right now. I went downstairs to see what was cooked for dinner. The same dish; thrice this week. I walked back towards my room, and had some banana chips along with some home-made snacks. Thank you maa for these snacks which won’t make me ever sleep hungry. I know, had you been here and seen me having this for dinner, probably shed a t...

Dear someone in particular, hard cover, yet so protected. paper bound, yet not fragile. spiral bound, yet so simple to handle. It’s like the whole world is scattered in you. All sorts of people coming together to form one chapter of you till it tries to find a happy ending. Even in the saddest of times, the worst of crimes, someplace deep inside our heart, we all crave for that happy ending. I lose myself in you. It’s in you, that angels come and whisper songs in my...

I like sitting on an old dusty chair. Dragging it all the way outside to the balcony. 4th floor. I am sitting on that chair and looking around. Dusk time. The crickets have started chirping and the chirping of the birds faded some moments ago. The distant sounds of the temple bells echo and woman decked up in ornaments and sarees offer flowers and sweets. To that God. That God who owns the world, the universe. Whom you’ve caged in a place with four walls. I see ladies behind...

dear no one in particular, tip. tap. tip. tap. i love the way raindrops fall on my windowsill, on my palm, those silver and shimmering raindrops glistening in the sky before they fall on the ground. momentarily as a pearl drop and then simply melts away. i see the rain the way it showers, i feel the thunder, the way it growls, i sense the lightening the way it glows up the skies. it manages to leave me in awe, a single raindrop which soothes my skin. it’s as if the...

Hello all, my name is Kashish and I'm eighteen. I love aesthetics and unconventional stuff. Sophisticated words fascinate me. I die without french fries and watching a flower bloom makes my heart skip a beat. Most of my time is spent in thinking and believing in a better world while trying to retain my chill in an existential crisis.
