Why should I get out of bed while others sleep?
Every time I meet someone, I always ask myself whether they have a goal in their lives or a destination they want to reach. I have met many people who had no goals in their lives. And if they had one, they did not know how to reach it. One day I met a girl by chance and we talked about a writer and inspirational speaker called Simon Sinek. He wrote a book called 'Start with Why?' which offers a great idea: why are some companies or some people more successful than others? Or how can I move towards achieving my goal more accurately and more clearly? In fact, I did not read the book directly...
How the Faces of the Medallion Can Change Our Lives
*This article was originally written and published in August 2016 at UNICEF Voices of Youth’s former website. It has since been moved here. Since I figured out how to read and write at the age of 5, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I have been writing ever since, anything and everything. I write about what I feel, about the stories of the people I meet, about my own experiences, about the troubles of the world… It was only 3 months ago that I came across something called the “writing culture”, something that basically explores and questions the concept of objectivity. It had me...
Achieving Happiness in a World of Distractions
Unfortunately, teens are becoming more isolated from the outside world. This epidemic is infecting us at an alarming rate. In the rising generation we have become more scientifically advanced as human beings. We have developed new interests and trends in the past decade. In this new, modern world we have achieved huge breakthroughs as a human race. But we have also created new distractions and lures that secretly harm our wellbeing. An example of a modern day distraction is technology, or more specifically, social media. Technology has been extremely beneficial for us. It’s helped us learn...
Mistakes don't define You
Lying down and reminiscing on some things and the aftermath if I had dared to see through to the end How i failed to execute some important plans How I easily gave up on some project I started The books I refused to get and read The articles I didn't start The impact I didn't make when I had the opportunity ... The mood of this write up is not one of regret but a wake up call. Start those things right now because the best time to take an action is NOW! Regrets and mistakes are part of life, but the focus should be the person you become after every downfall. I wrote a professional examination...
Words matter: why offensive race comments are unacceptable
Throughout our lives, many of us have felt the impact of poor, degrading word choice used by others. These experiences have helped to shape us into who we are today, something that is essential to our identity. However, oftentimes, we keep these experiences to ourselves as we think they may seem trivial or unimportant. But this is not true. We need to share our stories. Our stories are not trivial. Our stories are important. Our stories can make a difference. So let us start sharing! This year, in early September, while walking down the hallway at school, I turned to see my friend shout at...
The Bright side of pain
Pain is the condition or fact of suffering or anguish as opposed to pleasure; torment, distress. Pain can either: - make us powerless and pointless or - open our eyes/mind to the direction where the liberation lies/light. I believe there is a bright side to this unpleasant feeling. As humans, I believe we have been equipped with mechanisms to always see light in every bad situation. We determine how we react to this unpleasant feeling. "Pain is inevitable ,suffering is optional"
Fairy tales? Or no...
What is with women and fairy tales? The first time I heard of this was over my favorite political drama series, Madam Secretary, that projected a woman who was tired of pursuing perfection. Her quest had been so tough and achieving a break-even of goodness and prowess in both her career and social life was not tallying up quite well. In this particular scene she was fretting on how tired she was for trying too hard to be both a political leader in her country and a family woman only for her efforts to always turn futile. This prompted me to hit the pause button and try contemplating on that...
DREAM
It’s really a great pity that we’ve been told already since early childhood that we should stop dreaming and start “living.” What a mistake! Living IS dreaming! This is exactly why we are here: to pursue our dreams! Not for selfish reasons, but for the sake of everybody. By following MY dreams, I am becoming a better person, a happy person, shining brightly like a sun, lightening up the lives of those around me. If I decide to forget about my dreams, then I will become like a plant without water or sunlight, leaves hanging down, begging for water and looking rather miserable. Am I of any help...
Fly, Do and Go
My little precious bird, Don’t be afraid of getting wounded Don’t be afraid of the others Don’t be afraid of flying higher Fly high as you can Fly fast as you can Fly and enjoy Do what you dreamed of Do what you want to do Go and find your own path Go and find your dreams Go and find your freedom Fly, Do, Go, Go find your dreams...
A Hidden Truth Within Ourselves
Within all misleading coatings, lies a truth. A framework, an embodiment, rooted far beyond any physical manifestation. No scope, colossal or the diametrically opposing, can measure the existence of such a force. The discovery of the latter is merely a quest for one individual, who possesses the psyche. The pursuit of an inspiriting validity will inevitably be taxing. Challenging the very humanity that has been by our side, as both a companion and a combatant, is imperative. However, the resistance to lucidly following the path paved by those surrounding us, should be a cause worth fighting...
A new sunshine
‘Out of the cocoon, the pupa felt that it was dying but it was a new beginning instead, a beautiful butterfly started flying’ is a popular motivational statement that I find inspiring. Similarly, when we feel that the whole world is collapsing, a new sunshine appears for us. The moral is that ‘after every end, comes a new beginning’, so we should never loose hope and continue our struggle because it is what keeps us alive. If complex circumstances come your way, just go somewhere peaceful for a while, where you can be yourself and talk to your inner soul. This conversation will relieve you and...
The real accomplishment is being happy everyday!
Un-satisfaction; I believe it’s a trait every overtly ambitious person has, sometimes becoming the sole reason for our very doom. As a perfectionist and optimist, I began to set arduous goals from a very little age. I would always compete to be the best at what I do, hating the word ‘second place’, and of course, be pinned to the limelight. Moreover, I was trying to achieve this in a foreign territory. Having spent most of my childhood in European countries, I shuffled back and fourth from fitting in with my French amigos, only to be having fish and chips with my English friends, two years...
Acceptance
It's common that we are usually been affected by what others say. Like when they have said how short or tall we are, and how that looks bad, and about our dress sense, the way we speak, the manner we do things and more. And it's common that we get affected by it. But the question is why we are affected by it. It is important that we don't get affected by it as we don't require their acceptance. Why do we ask for their acceptance when we deserve to be accepted the way we are with any scar or flaw we have. The only thing that's important is that our hearts should be pure. And it's also important...
Why I was born
I was born to write To use the pen and wash away the pain To fell and then later rise. I was born not perfect To wet eyes and later dry I may fly so high today and go beneath the soil the next day. I was born to be bright To shine not like the sun but as a legitimate son To smile and make others too smile. I was born to pray To pray with no delay Because for once I haven't dreamt of escaping that clay.
Write to inspire, not to impress
As writers, it is important to have your readers at the back of your mind when writing. Don't write because you want to impress people, write to express yourself, let out all your energy. Write to get your message across. LET YOUR WRITE UP BE AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. People read contents that are easier to understand. It's stressful when one has to carry dictionary to check almost everything you wrote. It's tiring and boring, people might not really find interest in reading your content because of too much grammar. WRITE YOUR MESSAGE WITH CLARITY. Clarity is like a road map, it gives your...

Packaging!
This life is about packaging! Your package explains your personality before your content. Many people work on their content forgetting their container {package} which gives the first impression about them. Many a times we are called what we are not, because of our package. Sometime ago, I remember sharing flyers for a conference around a bank and I walked up to a guy who some boys had gone to beg from. Before I could say a word the guy told me "I'm sorry I have no money to give you". Funny right, the statement of the guy left me thinking. I didn't go to the guy to beg but I appeared as a...
Forty-Six: A Poem About Learning to Love Our Insecurities
Last night I counted How many blemishes I wanted to fix From knee to toe on one leg alone I found forty-six That's forty-six reminders of my shame Forty-six ghosts that haunt me with insecurity Forty-six times I stared into the mirror Crying over my impurity I am a ruined canvas Covered in billions of paint splatters Buy me a palette the color of invisibility So with my image I can feel flattered But these messengers of self-hatred Can never be exchanged for pride I can never be free, for they cannot be severed Believe me, I've tried But perhaps there's a reason why scars are forever To serve...
