Culture for kids? No way!

September 7, 2021
Culture

In some countries, cultural events aren't for all age and gender groups. This might be considered a "normal action" but it's not. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that everybody has the right to freely take part in local culture, however, this seems an underestimate article. Children, all over the World, are being privatized of attending to concerts, shows, and other cultural events, whether it's because of their age or gender. It's more than proved that to these aren't excuses to exclude minors of local culture. In Portugal, where I live, most concerts are only...

Loving All Versions of Myself

December 26, 2021
Personal growth

Dear Rose, I am proud of yesterday. Did you notice all those flowers that got away because you were too anxious and depressed to even think about growing them? I respect you for wanting to save everyone around you even if it drained all your energy. Look at all the people who hurt you deeply. You decided not to hold a grudge. You are so brave! I hope you do not regret deciding not to run away from the pain. I am happy you decided to face it. I am happy you decided to look at your reflection and say “I need help". Thank you for getting help. Do you forgive yourself for every tear that poured...

Our planet is on fire - what are you doing about it?

July 10, 2019
Environment
Today I would like to talk to you about a subject that is very important at this point in our journey on this planet! I believe that we all need to open our eyes and see what we are really doing to our planet: it is slowly dying and calling out for help. It´s true that whether we want it or not, the world is in constant change and there’s no evil in that, but when those changes are directly our fault and are helping to kill the planet and ourselves, maybe we should stop and think twice before doing anything else! Climate change, put into general terms, is an alteration of the composition of...

Youth Participation in the European Union: together we can make a real difference

July 18, 2019
Human Rights
Europe is our home and it’s our duty to keep it up. However, only 42.54% of Europeans voted in the 2014 elections for the European Parliament. Those were the elections with the least participation since they are held. Actually, it seems to me, that many young people feel the EU is very distant. Many people don´t understand the importance of the European Union in our daily lives although many laws are based on what the European Union decides.

Migration, diversity, and tolerance in Europe

Human Rights
Can you imagine half of the population of Japan going homeless? Or everyone in the United Kingdom fleeing and leaving an empty nation behind them? These are two ways to try to picture the massive shift of people happening today. Based on data from 2017, more than 68 million people were displaced from their homes. 25.4 million of those 68 were refugees - they were forced to flee their countries, leaving everything behind. The “refugee crisis” was all over the news in 2015 and 2016. It seems as if the “crisis” ended a year after it started, but that’s not true. Arrivals leaped from 60,000 in...

You are not welcome

June 27, 2019
Human Rights
Can you imagine a world where you are not welcome? A world where everyone looks at you suspiciously and refuses to help you. A world where everyone builds walls in their hearts because, without a rational reason, they think you are going to cause terror and violence… And after all that, they send you away. This is the reality for around 70 million people who are forced to leave their houses because of wars, persecution, and poverty.

Appreciation post to all the young people making a difference

May 17, 2022
Innovation & technology

Some of the most important advances in social and climate affairs in the last few years were made by young people. The youth has been marking their position on decision making, in order to make the world a better place for everyone to live, in a way that no other generation ever did. After many years of destruction and conflict promotion, there seems to be a bigger concern over the protection of our planet, at the same time we try to provide a reasonable and fair life for everybody. I believe that is due to the scare we have that the world ends soon. People get angry about it but it is mostly...
