She sat at her desk, an image A man seated, black and white Youth pouring out of the portrait And across his face, a photo Of a man on a boat rowing away Mortality displayed in immortality And she faced the sad truth that is life As she looked at his arms His veins seemed to carry with them life And he was as it is breathing in that image I am, I am .. those words seemed at that moment To resonate, to exist as if written in that image I can be created, I can be transformed, i can be transferred I am energy, always existing As I would in an image … days, months, years What about God, The...
Earth
Birds in the grey sky Fly faster The clouds of smoke Are on their way Fly faster I hear the footsteps The poachers are here Fishes of the sea Get out of the water The sewage sludge Is getting close Get out of the water I smell something It must be the oil Animals of the land Run away Your habitat Is coming down Run away I hear a roar I think it's the hum of the lumberjack's saw Earth closes her eyes She doesn't want to watch her light dwindle away Earth cries out for help 'Don't let man force me astray' Earth Don't lose hope in us We are coming your way We hear your plea Continue to pray
Heatwaves disrupt our daily lives
Weep Child
Weep child Weep for green you'll cease to see Weep for white turning blue Weep for blue turning black Weep, now the sky is red Thank you, Asha Though joey cannot find her mother Mim cannot go back now It's too hot in there It's not home anymore We may loose new titi He has nowhere to go It's hot And I don't know him yet Turtles for the sea We feed them a lot Now they cannot swim Hold the sun Don't let it sink Weep child For your own baby's place Growing are mountains of despair Angry rivers flowing despite Oceans having had enough Too much to hold in Now they are splashing hard Lashing out at...
Football Unites Everyone
The 2022 World Cup which was held in Doha, Qatar recently ended. The winner of the World Cup was Argentina. I watched it live as Argentinian fans cheered for their home country, I myself could not help but to cheer alongside them. Living in Doha, I have noticed that football brings a sort of unity among every person regardless of age, gender, or race. Every nation in the world is brought to a place to celebrate and support their national team. The effort that the supporters had to show up in their best outfits to support one of 32 countries was amazing. Several supporters wore their...
Our dear friend
This is a poem I wrote for a school assignment and one of my teachers suggested sharing it! So here it is. Intoxicated. Transparent and translucent shapes pollute the sandy plains like, splotches of paint on pure canvas. Wings, once flying, now dying. Trapped in plastic’s chokehold, they cannot escape. We, the children, horrified- The waves who once watched me grow, the seas that used to caress me tightly, now flooded in scarlet fury. Azure sea howls and roars, vicious, vexed, violent. Deep blue devours chunks of grainy sand like ruthless predators attacking prey. She’s a cold-blooded thief...
A Pledge To 2023: A New Dawn
February 17, 2022, is a day I still vividly remember. It was the day we truly began to return to a new normal. I recall during lunch getting the word. We were informed we could take down the plexiglass barriers placed between each other at lunch, and put them away in a closet. One by one, students tore down these isolating barriers and exiled them to the storage closet. Everyone watched as the final one was placed away, and the door closed. The room was silent. Moments later, an individual yelled out "we won!" and the room erupted with cheer and applause. Hugs were given, tears were rolled...
