Pledge to act
We all are at the verge of destruction if we fail to prevent the adverse effects of climate change. Humans have already done enough damage and now is the time to heal the planet. We must reduce carbon emissions as much as possible and at individual level we all must start planting trees to reduce the effects of global warming and further prevent the leftover earth’s natural flora and fauna. It is time to act, to heal. Let's pledge to not harm the environment when this quarantine is over. #manforclimate
April was stolen from us a long time ago, but our chains were made of titanium
Now!
It had started long before I was born Settlements approaching, Not soon after we began to mourn Deforestation encroaching. We are helpless nymphs with our roots too deep. Nowhere to run too, just left to dream Of death coming closer, the nightmare it creeps. The end is near for all, it seems. The air is polluted. The atmosphere is heating, and the land is steaming. A wave of wildfires, melting ice caps, rising sea levels are upon us, yet they are still deluded That change is not important, that climate change does not exist, that are all just dreaming We hear the screams and cries of our...
Let's Earth Day inspire us to fight for Climate Justice
Have you asked yourself what the youth climate movement is doing during the COVID-19 crisis? We are still fighting for climate justice! April 22, Earth Day, was our first global mobilization of the year. We had planned 3 days in a row of actions, starting on Wednesday, and ending on Friday with our famous strike; but now, with the global health crisis of COVID-19, every action planned had to be cancelled or modified. The whole world is on a mission to fight and survive this pandemic, but the fight for climate justice cannot be stopped. The arrival of COVID-19 meant a radical change not only...

Learning In Quarantine
Education, something that most of us saw as a typical part of life. We wake up, go to school, learn, leave to home/work/activity, do some more work and repeat. But one day that changed, we no longer went to this place that was apart of a near-daily routine. COVID-19 has changed education and will most likely continue in the future. Not only has COVID-19 changed the way we learn, but what we learn and the flaws in the current education system. Across the globe "reimagine education" is being thrown around, some are excited, some are afraid, I for one don't know I feel about it. What Are The...
Stop romanticizing inequality
With the pandemic happening all over the world, things have changed. Adjustments were observed and called the “new normal.” In my country, the last part of the academic school year and the incoming one are being implemented with online learning. In a third world country, where the internet connection has been proved slow and unreliable and where a big percentage of students do not have access to the modern world, I find this very unfair. I have seen a post circulating online where a grandmother (around 65-70 years of age) bought a mobile phone for his grandson to be able to attend his online...
World Environment Day 2020: Young voices for climate justice
CORONA VIRUS LOCKDOWN
The most necessary step taken in the whole town, To prevent Corona Virus, is the lockdown. The Tree of Life
Connecting earth with heaven. Connecting space with time. Connecting life with death. Connecting the elements of life. Connecting souls. Yet dying: for praise. for care. for love. for acceptance. For if it dies, all dies. Death too. -al mumeet (the bringer of death)
A Post COVID-19 World
In true terms, the COVID has brought the entire world into a complete standstill. This is drastic, especially in this age of globalisation and urbanisation, when international trade and communications do not cease to function for a single moment. Unfortunately, various workers from around the globe have been feeling stressed recently due to loss of jobs and the IT Sector companies, mainly in the United States, the ones belonging to the middle revenue income group, have gone into complete bankruptcy and turned shutters down. At an average estimation, people in the United States, which includes...
Education Inequality During COVID 19
The outbreak of coronavirus came as a surprise to many countries in the world. Many countries were less prepared to overcome a global pandemic which has taken away thousands of lives. The most affected group by this outbreak is children and youth. Majority of children and youth particularly those living at Sub-Saharan Africa have been forced to stay at home and postpone their studies as a measure to curb the spread of COVID 19. There is no doubt that education is the basic human right and a key to poverty alleviation, inequality reduction and sustainable human development. Although stay at...
The gift of life - education
India is a developing country and is developing to get rid of all its flaws and be one of the best and happiest countries in the world. It would be amazing if we could reach that position as soon as possible but there is a hindrance. Are all the problems noticed by the officials? I am not sure of the answer, but I see a problem where no visible actions are taken. What is the biggest gift of our lives? Yes, it is education. Initially I barely had interest towards education, my interests were concentrated only in sports and chess. Though my interest towards education was low, I still enjoyed...
The Impact of COVID-19 and the Sustainable Development Goals
The entire world is currently fighting the same battle - the fight against COVID-19. As each day passes, contentions about the global economy, political and economic orders, and healthcare systems continue to prevail in a myriad of discussions. The cost of the crisis in terms of loss of lives is painful, but the effects on the sustainable development prospects and the global economy are worrisome. Through many economic, social, and political avenues, this pandemic is heralded to affect the global development objectives at a vast scale, more prominently on the UN Sustainable Development Goals...
Short story by Mohammed Salihu
Creating art is definitely a way of expressing and keeping yourself busy. I decided to write a short story to keep myself busy in this period when our daily works, home and school routine have been taken away as a result of the Covid 19 outbreak. The title of my book is "Dearest Sunset" and it has been published on Wattpad and Okadabooks. Dearest Sunset is a story about Zara, a young village girl from the Northern region of Nigeria who dreams of her future in the University. With a few months left to graduate high school, she falls in love with Femi, a Youth corp member. The story is free for...
Doughnut Economics: Let's not fry the Economy post-COVID-19
Doughnut Economics: The Economics that will not fry the economy. The Great Depression of 1929. Studying the economists that were able to pose world changing solutions and save economies during that time certainly captivated my interest. I always wondered what it must have been like to live through a great economic crisis, not expecting that I would have to at some point. The Great Lockdown of 2020. The first economic crisis in history that was started by a virus, sent oil into the negative price range, and threatened the lives of mankind in almost every single country, and the first pandemic...
Fast fashion and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
The coronavirus outbreak is having a far reaching impact on businesses in almost every part of the world – be it small scale or big ticket! From prominent industry players laying off several thousands workers at a time to small-scale organizations grappling for existence, the situation in the corporate world seems to get grimmer by the day. And the globe of fashion isn’t spared as well! America’s largest chain of luxury stores, Neiman Marcus Group Inc. is the latest one to have filed for bankruptcy. In a series of reports by prominent media houses over the last 24 hours, it was noted that...
COVID-19: Social Inequality and Education Disadvantage
As the world delves deeper into the unmasking of the onslaught of COVID-19, there has been a myriad of measures taken by people across the globe to protect themselves and everyone around them. The world has been brought to a standstill as the coronavirus continues to travel the world, compelling governments to issue nation-wide lockdown order in an attempt to encourage social-distancing norms. Not only have these steps affected economic activity but have impacted the education procedures too. Children and youth are groups that have encountered a massive hit from this crisis. As institutions...
