The unknown consequences
A beautiful land filled of nutrients and shade. Only to be destroyed by those who raid. Coming in to steal, and destroy. For their own needs They make anything bleed. Land full with grace, being killed without a trace. Ice melting, humans dwelling, Animals all around suffering, From humans hovering. Gas in the air kind of hard to breathe, Being trapped underneath, Not knowing the results from this genocide, Being part of this lie. Being told we were meant to be savages, From being humans, turned to ravages. All I hear is Me, Me, Me. Never will you hear We. It time to change our ways, To get...
Discrimination towards teens
In today's generation there are many teens that have a job. Of course, they work with adults, young and old. I've heard many stories from my fellow classmates about what they experience at work. Because my classmates are younger, the older employees feel as if they can treat them any kind of way. They force them into doing duties that weren't even given to them. I believe there aren't enough rules to avoid things like this from happening. When teens are working at a job with older people, I think the managers and supervisors should pay EXTRA attention to what's going on. From personal...

Unspoken Carbon Time Machine Threatens to Create a Climate Change Crisis
I come from officially the world's coldest city with over 10,000 population - Yakutsk. Sometimes, in winter, the temperatures here drop below −60°C (−76 °F). Located in East Siberia, Yakutsk is the capital city of the Sakha Yakutia Republic, which would be the world’s eighth-largest country if it were independent, according to The New York Times.
Our state's environmental future
I love Ohio. Sometimes it's unbearably cold or uncomfortably hot, there are bad things in every place, but overall, this place is my home and has been a home for my family, friends and everything in my life. And I know it is home to so many others as well. Some of the most precious parts of Ohio I strongly believe are the land, water systems, animals, as well as the people. I could tell you how Ohio lost ⅓ of its agricultural land between 1950-2000. I have been trying to compile statistics from the past two decades to see the more recent loss, because my personal experience leads me to feel...
Breaking away from the mold, even into the unexpected
Many women in their lifetime find that they feel expected to conform to a certain mold, whether that be a homemaker, a stay-at-home mom, or even a mother who has to balance work and child rearing at the same time. The same women may oftentimes view this destined outlook as more confining than anything else, especially when they’ve had their sights set on a different path since they can remember. Fifty years ago, a woman working a full-time job might have been a ludicrous idea — but now, it’s more common than ever, and even the weight of the stigma against the working woman is slowly beginning...
Defining my success as a conservationist
All too often I find myself in a conversation about how intimidating I am. How my confidence and my success in my desired field of conservation separates me from the rest of my generation and prevents me from having “typical” conversations with my peers. I say the word typical loosely, because what do “typical” youth conversations look like? And why are conversations about pressing environmental issues seen as atypical when youth around the world have proven time and time again that they are the ones willing to take the larger stance? I get told on a daily that the work I have done is “so...
A diet filled with life
The horrors that can go on behind the closed doors of the meat and dairy industry are unimaginable. We don't seem to notice how our actions as meat eaters affect our community, our environment, and the lives of millions of animals.“In the U.S., more than 29 million cows suffer and die in the meat and dairy industries every year"(PETA). It may be easier to ignore the effects of such industries rather than address the issue. But we, the most intelligent species, have a duty to advocate for those who cannot speak. We promote human rights and equality, yet we neglect the rights of every living...
Overcoming Imposter Syndrome in your work
Everyone can feel like they don’t belong now and again. When these feelings strike, a massage, vacation, or a few mental health days can get you back on your feet. But, if you tend to have a live-streaming dialogue that attempts to leave you feeling like a fraud at work, it might be something more. The good news is that you’re not alone, and you’re probably in the company of high achievers. The bad news is that you might be struggling with Imposter Syndrome. What is Imposter Syndrome Imposter syndrome is a phenomenon first described in the 1970s by psychologists Suzanne Imes and Pauline Rose...
Facing the inevitable
Climate change is without a doubt a major concern across the globe. Various communities and leaders are finally beginning to come together and address the issue. But to produce solutions quickly, we must work as one global community and put aside our differences to preserve the only place we can call home. The depletion of our marine life, release of greenhouse gasses, and deforestation are some of the challenges we continue to face to this day. Although we have taken measures to reduce the impact our choices have on our environment, what more can we do to ensure that we provide generations to...
