Our heroes
Courage, strength, altruism ... That's what we think when we see medical workers. However, stepping aside and removing the mask, our heroes show their real face, the face of exhausted people who are continuously fighting with their fragile hands for life ... for our life and for their life ... Let's support them, let's give them back what they give us every day, their courage, strength, altruism. Keep distance, wear masks, wash your hands, help the local hospital with what they need, help the medical workers and volunteers. These are small steps to a big victory.
Mind while in quarantine
Changes can sometimes be tricky. When you have an anxiety disorder they can be triggering . For me panic attacks mostly occur in cases when I feel "trapped " for example in traffic, in queues, or when in very crowded places. I was having a really hard time even before the pandemic spread. I had just dropped out of University because I was too sick to continue doing something I didn't really feel I truly wanted and I was struggling with finding myself without being labeled as a "student". The unnecessary stares and unwanted opinions of others on my decisions were hurtful and didn't really help...
What is Artificial Intelligence – and how does it affect YOU?
Happiness in small details, in big picture?
They say look at the big picture And then find happiness in small things It confuses me a little bit Maybe its now the same with all the beings When I read number of positive #covid19 cases In thousands and millions, My heart sinks and I pray for those But towards the single digit mortality rate it turns Maybe it wants to find A silver lining to this pandemic And wants to applaud the efforts Tag those fighting for a cure as "#mavericks" So, fighting with my brother, looking Over old pictures, I smile The situation to be better and The heaviness to go away may take a while So, call up those...

Hate speech and mean comments seem to dominate the internet these days. Scroll through any Instagram or Twitter feed, YouTube comment section, or online forum, and you are bound to see people mocking others for their appearance, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, personal beliefs- really anything can become the unfair target of vile comments online. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Although hate comments are seemingly everywhere on the internet, they do not belong anywhere. Gene Editing: The Cure of the Future
Brian Madeux had Hunter’s syndrome, an inherited, rare genetic disorder caused by a missing or malfunctioning enzyme (“MPS II”). As a result, Madeux underwent more than two dozen operations (Marchione, 2017). A treatment that consisted of weekly doses of the missing enzyme was available, but it would cost more than 100,000 dollars per year and could potentially lead to brain damage. So, in November 2017, Madeux decided to undergo gene therapy, making him the first person in the United States to have a gene edited inside of his body. When considering whether gene editing can result in cures or...
Salesperson of Happiness (Khoshbakhtye Forushande) - Persian Poem
Persian has always been a language that I had admired and wanted to learn. This poem is my first attempt at writing a Persian poem after learning it for a few months. The poem consists of easy words that I picked up while learning the basics. While it is very difficult to write a poem in a foreign language due to its inherent nuances and grammatical intricacies, I found it to be a very entertaining and enlightening exercise for improving my skill in the language as well as learning it further. My accompanying transliteration has tried to bring forth the rhyme and intonation used in the poem...

Doors are shut, Windows are too Roads look deserted, Parks look so, Covid-19 has come as a for, Comfortably it travels through the rich and the poor alike, Hotchpotch is the scenario, As it was never before, Everything is in mess, All seek shelter, But where to go? No place is safe, Not even the Church, Hospitals are crowded, Cemetery is sealed, Corpses like reeds float in drains, Despite this all, all is right with the world, It is as it was ever before.
What the future holds after this pandemic
With a spike in new COVID-19 cases all around the world, our future has become pretty uncertain. Most of the younger population were super excited to graduate and start working this summer, not realizing the major twist that has brought the whole world into a standstill. The youth are the future and their future shouldn't be left in the dark but would this phase impact them in a good or a bad way? Some say that using this time and focusing on yourself, your interests and learning new things online could be one way to deal with this. But what about the youth who lost their jobs during this...
Social media influence on eating disorders
It is undeniable that in the last decades social media has changed our perspective and way of communicating worldwide. This technological progress has led us to almost an immediate adaptation in the way of living, which in a certain way, has become more easygoing. However, this evidently has a negative impact on ourselves. The most vulnerable public to its negative effects and consequences is the youth. Due to their easy access to social networks, and their comprehensive immaturity, they tend to believe what they see; "perfect" lives, "perfect" bodies, "perfect" relationships, "perfect"...
The Child of Racism
As a child of two immigrants from India, I am a mix between the vibrant and traditional culture of India and the extroverted culture of America. To me, India and America were worlds apart, often making me drift between the two whenever I visit India or return to America. I could not find any similarities between India and America, because to me (or at least to my parents), India was a mystical place filled with culture that I often took for granted. Now that I'm older and have access to more information than the generations before me, I started to realize that Indian culture and Western...
One big family full of hope
For every coronavirus cured patient, there is a whole team of medical workers who work 24/7. They give hope that we all must continue to fight for the future and never lose hope. They calm the patients and become their family in the hospital, taking care of their physical and mental health. Family ... I always thought that only those who have known each other for a long time, who have gone through all the hardships, become family. Now I'm glad I was wrong. During these six months, all over the world, strangers help each other, share everything they have. Isn't that magic?
The Importance Of Mental Health
Mental health is important. It impacts how we feel, think, and behave each day. Our mental health also contributes to our decision making, problem solving, how we deal with stress, and how we can relate to others in our lives. That's why, we have to always care about our own mental health. It's for the sake of our social well-being. Our mental health plays an important part on a daily basis, promoting productivity in activities like work, school, etc. If you adapt easily to new environments, then it means both your mental and emotional are healthy. Have you ever felt down or sad? I bet you all...
A San Belief
“We are the ancestors of our grandchildren’s children. We look after them, just as our ancestors look after us. We aren’t here for ourselves. We are here for each other and for the children of our grandchildren.” - Profound words by a San elder, Roy Sesana The hunter-gatherer San are among the oldest cultures on Mother Earth, and are thought to be descended from the first inhabitants of Southern Africa. The San were traditionally semi-nomadic, moving seasonally within certain regions based on the availability of water, game, and edible shrubbery. The San culture and beliefs are simple yet rich...
Global COVID-19
COVID-19 is going on all over the world. All people need to unite to deal with this epidemic. And I also want to express the feeling that people are yearning for the outside world. During the self-isolation, everyone feels boring. In order to let the disease pass quickly, people choose to be isolated at home. However, their brain can “traveling” around the world.
Water and Fire
When water encounters fire, The fire is relieved, water is set free. Red and blue occupies the opposite side of the scheme, Water and fire stand on the contrary. They are never placed together, For that, the existence of one is the death of the other. Fire is extinguished by water, While water drains in the heat of the fire. But I think the two have made each other. The compromises by the two to willingly change their form, Has delighted this confrontation. Fire is finally released from its burden to always shine and emit warmth. Water is eventually free from its bond of certain form as it...
