When will there be peace on Earth?
It is 6 AM in the morning, I wake up and prepare myself for a job. When listening to the morning news I learn that more than 70.8 million people are displaced by civil and interstate wars. This is really shocking me, but then I ask myself who will help to bring peace on Earth, if not me? Creation of peace on earth is a duty of all human beings. While the majority of us enjoy peaceful conditions in our countries, our joy will be completed when we can help the people who are displaced and deprived of comfortable places to sleep, study or work for an income. In many parts of the world, people...
Peace can be a reality
In a world of war, I searched for peace In a world of hate, I searched for love In a world of discrimination, I searched for acceptance In a world of racism, I searched for equality In a world of injustice, I searched for fairness But I found NONE. Then I decided I will be peace. By accepting my neighbour for who they are. Remember peace can be a reality if we do not make religion a barrier in loving my neighbour. Peace can be a reality if I am ready to put aside all differences and accept my neighbour with open arms. Peace starts with you and me. If we are not peaceful in our heart, we...
My home, an uncertain future
I am uncertain Uncertain of the future of my continent, Africa Uncertain of the realities I wish were myths What a devastating reality Piercing my heart-tarnishing my actual existence Shunning and shaming one brother Spreading the blood of one blood sister One own African blood From Liberia to Namibia, from Nigeria back to South Africa All around Africa, they say it's xenophobia But I say, it's ignorance in disguise and disgust Leaving me with so much uncertainty of the place I called home A home where the future holds no peace nor place Not for adults, children, or my unborn generations Am...
Stop fighting for peace
Should we fight for peace? Well this is what happens in the world. Countries are trying to control the world through wars nowadays. We are trying to get peace through war. That’s the problem: This is just like throwing wood in the fire instead of water. For centuries we have been trying to get peace, but with no results. There are many examples that you could look at to understand what exactly I mean by this. If you take a look at human history you’ll see that we’ve fought many wars and many battles in the name of peace, but where has that really gotten us? It is 2017 and we still have “war...
Break the Stigma: Promoting a Sustainable Period in the Federated States of Micronesia
All over the world, girls face many challenges related to menstrual hygiene management that may negatively impact their education. Personally, I have missed school days and skipped classes to go to the clinic because of extreme period pain. During one exam, I asked my teacher if I could go to the school clinic and finish my exam there. Fortunately, he agreed. My handwriting was so terrible because I couldn't really focus with the pain I felt. I was glad that I even passed that exam. I truly believe that I would have been able to achieve more academically, and even in life in general, if I didn...
CRY FOR HELP
If poetry was a person I would tell her the truth I will tell her about the nightmares and the sleepless nights I will tell her about the moments of numbness and plethora of emotions rushing through me all at once I would tell her about the euphoric happiness that would last for blink and then the prolonged melancholic tears I would tell her about the messy, chaotic and damaged soul I am and maybe, just maybe somebody will finally start to see my cry for help. I won't be invincible anymore.

Mental health
Mental health can be frightening, we don't know how to handle it at first, and it's very confusing. Most of us never want to admit when we're not feeling great and asking for help can be the hardest part. It's ok to not to feel ok, but admitting it to yourself and others is not as easy as they say. We always hear what we should do and how we should handle it, but when we're "down", we don't want to admit it and we hide how we actually feel and act as if nothing happened, almost always. It's easier to go to someone you know to talk to, or at least it should be, but we're ashamed of how we feel...

Be the voice of the voiceless- Animal cruelty
Do you consider yourself an animal lover? Have you ever taken a step forward and purchased an “animal-cruelty free” product? If so, what do you do when the same animals are subjected to torture? As a child being brought up in a small town of KP Pakistan, I saw teenagers hurling rocks at stray dogs and cats who ached and voiced their pain. Back then, my 10-year-old self clenched her dress with tiny hands and repeatedly, incessantly, called out the teenagers to stop. Tiny voices like mine were not powerful enough to suppress and bury the callousness of animal cruelty. Every now and then, a...
