Talents wanted
It amazes me how talented people are. I watched a video today of a girl who painted a picture with paint and sea waves. Yes, that's right, sea waves. She simply applied paint to a piece of paper and then gently dipped it in the sea. With the help of the waves, the colors spread out on the sheet of paper, creating a background for the drawing. Then the artist began to paint the picture. I wish I could show you, but it turned out beautiful, unusual and very original. In fact, all brilliant is simple. I don't have this talent, but I can also do what I'm good at, which is writing. It gives me...
My dream
My dream has always been to be a nurse. I want to help people and I want to show people I care. Nurses are always helpful. While others may not care about their job and just want to earn money, I want to help, not just focus on the money, the amount I’m making, or anything materialistic. I want to be there to listen to people, take care of them, help them with anything and be there to make sure they are okay. On the other hand, nurses also work long hours away from their families. They are asked to do tasks that most people in the world won’t want to do. Sometimes they deal with patients with...
As The Stars Still Gleam Tonight— A Poem
For the ones finding a reason to stay— Remember this; You always used to sit and dream of how far you’ll go someday, so as the stars still gleam tonight know that it’s worth the stay. The clusters won’t remain so long, so wipe those tears of dry, hope this adventure never stops, please wait and you’ll see why. The sun will soon expand horizons, with rays that gleam the earth, for sun walks in, with a purpose to burn and embraces her countless worth. So hold on for today my dear, for a splendid tomorrow awaits, cause since the sun and stars still shine today, there’ll lie a shining fate.
Is It Possible To Help Ourselves By Helping Others?
Nowadays, the possibility of helping ourselves by helping others intrigues me. In fact, that question has been on my mind for so long that I even forgot when I started to wonder. These days, I decided to take some action and began to do some digging. Anyway, the answer to the question is a big YES! Helping others has effects on human physiology and psychology that have been proven by various researchers. Some researchers indicated that assisting others is highly associated with happiness and overall psychological wellbeing (Filkowski, Cochran and Haas, 2016), whereas some researchers drew...
A lovely pink flower
A lovely pink flower Carried by the wind With beauty as its power No one knows where it’s been Its endured countless showers Blown through storms upwind Burned in the sun for hours Happiness it can only imagine It only sees its errors Satisfaction paper thin Yet others see what lies above rather than lying within So a lovely pink flower is where its story begins and a lovely pink flower it will remain till its dusk has risen
Child vaccination and the challenge of consulting
Now that the COVID-19 vaccination has advanced greatly in many countries, levels of absenteeism are rising in the places where the doses are being put. The anti-vaccination movement has had a significant impact on this matter, alongside the help of fake news and disinformation. Misleading communities is a serious issue, but it becomes even bigger when those people are parents. At this level, it not only affects them, but also their children’s health. Thus, this problem escalates from an individual sphere to a family spectrum. And just like in other medical instances, the youth is not given a...
What young people can learn from Florence Nightingale
More than just the “the lady with a lamp”. Today and henceforth the spotlight is on Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing. Earlier this year, I did a quick caricature of Florence Nightingale for a Fundamentals of Nursing practice course reflection paper. It got me thinking on how it was her environmental theory that defines the Nursing profession today as we combat #Coronavirus She was born into a rich British family of high social status in Florence, Italy (hence her name Florence). Her mother was against her choices to pursue Nursing School since at that time they believed...
The Stories of Pain are The Stories of Strenght
If any time you feel anything which is hurting you from inside and leaving you locked inside the walls of despair, it needs to be poured out and talked about. Mental health is important and it needs to be acknowledged by everyone. We young people have always been busy with sticking to the unhealthy definition of life ,which states that getting good marks, sticking to the expectations of others, being insecure, getting successful in life and making money and so on. And sticking to this sour definition of life ,we are not living it we are just passing it with despair. And being surrounded by...
Is Covid-19 gender neutral?
With almost being one & half years of fighting Covid-19 since its emergence in China it has become really significant that we look at gender disparities that have already put women on the margins of society. The pandemic has only exacerbated existing inequalities between women & men. The reason being the long-existing inequalities & the patriarchal mindset. This & many other reasons have made women even more vulnerable to pandemics. While the men are more prone to the virus than women, the woman is the one who is the caretaker both at work & at the home putting them at the frontlines. Also...
My testimony; How I reduce stress in lockdown
In lockdown, I don't go to school, I don't walk in the park, I don't see my friends, and I don't visit my grandmother. I feel very stressed. I feel happy when I do these activities: I study from home, I write stories, I read marvel comics and I read books or ebooks. I paint the landscapes, I play the piano and I watch a series on netflix. I listen to music from my favorite band "caifanes" and "queen", and I dance "rock and roll" I read a bike and I call my friends and my family on WhatsApp. I feel good when I help my mother and sister. That makes me feel happy and calm!
Presence and silence
Sometimes presence means more than any words. Sometimes silence is the best conversation. Or maybe it will be only 1-3 words? There are different ways to support each other, but few things remain the same. They are your intension and presence. So keep being supportive and kind even if it is difficult or misunderstood. Because when you will have bad days, the people you were supporting will come to you and support you.
It is a great day to feel happy!
Well, it may not be easy from the first time. Maybe you will feel guilty and think "It is a waste of time, I'd better ...". But hey, stop here and try to find some time to do what makes you feel good... And enjoy it. Good luck!
Mental Health Awareness: Its Significance and Impact on Teenagers
Mental health awareness has been the ‘talk’ up to this day, especially among the teenagers which you can see all over social media, raising awareness and educating people about this issue. This is a kind of illness that you cannot actually recognize in a glimpse— it is an internal crisis within a person that involves changing in emotion, way of thinking, and behavior. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), almost one in five U.S adults suffers from mental illness which is 52.9 million in 2020. It ranges from mild to moderate to severe. Anxiety, depression, trauma, eating...
Make them understand
Why are the people that advocate for mental health awareness when something tragic happens often the same ones that make you feel pathetic for bailing on your plans again? The same people that get mad at you for not talking to them, the ones that sigh and say 'I give up with you' when they catch you wallowing again? How are you supposed to 'open up' when those closest to you make you feel even worse than you did before? I would answer the former question(s) by arguing a lack of genuine knowledge and understanding or guidance on how to appropriately and usefully help those they see suffering...

SPEAK UP
Mental health. For the past few years, the most happening and listened terms are MENTAL HEALTH. If one need to live peacefully and happily, not only should they focus on physical health but as equally on mental health. Mental health problems may lead to depression, psychological problems, anxiety and many more. When we talk about DEPRESSION - which now a days most of the young people are dealing with - they don't share that they are suffering from it. Actually, they don't know that they are going through depression. These types of young people need moral support from their family and friends...
