“Something like this hasn’t happened since 1945!”... These were the last words my history teacher told me and the whole class before school was officially closed. Now weeks have passed and I have heard nothing from her or anyone else. Is everything alright? Is someone sick? Did something happen? So many questions are going through my head and most of them are unpredictable thoughts. I do not only mean that I worry about the people I know and care about. I basically meant every human being – because we are one unity and everyone should respect and support another! But how can we be united in...
A wake up call
They always thought they could outsmart nature, well look how that’s gone. Everyone’s talking about how people are dying and the number of the infected. Oh how the tables have turned, our hell has become nature’s paradise. No pollution, nature isn’t being destroyed, empty streets so all in all, a peaceful world. A world where humans aren’t disrupting the balance of nature, one where animals aren’t being treated cruelly, one where nature dominates everything. The ideas of industrialisation and economic growth have blinded man in such a way that he starts destroying the very force that gave him...
Asian ≠ Coronavirus
"I don't want to sit next to him, he probably has the coronavirus"..."Bro did he just cough, corona time"... Before the outbreak in America, words like this causally spread in school, I mean, words kinda hurt... It's pathetic and embarrassing when coronavirus doesn't even discriminate but a human does. Not only in school - outside the school people also gave me "looks". I forgot to mention something, I'm from Wuhan, you already know that gave those racist a good chance to discriminate. Two weeks later the school called time out, they said we are out of the school for 3 days, but I already knew...
Earth Day 2020 and COVID-19: Why the Climate conversation must continue
Contributions by: Joseph Wilkanowski, Kate Yeo, Theresa Rose Sebastian, Ilana Zeitzer, Aman Sharma, Ayisha Siddiqa and Sofía Hernández. Even though the world has come to a standstill, youth activists around the world continue to champion the cause of a better future, a better planet. Because we have to. Some may call us alarmists. Others may call us hysterical. Some may say we should be focusing all our resources on COVID-19 instead. But the reality is, just because we’re in lockdown, doesn’t mean the social and environmental issues around us have come to a halt too. In fact the world's...
Climate Change - Reducing the impact
Climate Change is here to stay. What our forefathers have done has led to enough consequences already, and we have to suffer the impact. If one is under the impression that by just taking some measures one could eliminate the impacts of Climate Change than the person is fooling himself/ herself. At this stage, we can only reduce the quantum of effects that climate change is about to bring by taking some steps immediately 1. Reducing carbon emissions as much as possible and shifting to more environmental friendly fuels. This should be an urgent step. 2. Implementation of the seventeen...
And you still think it is not our fault?
During the last couple of weeks, the only thing people have been talking about is connected to the COVID-19, more known as the coronavirus. It is a horrible virus that spread around the world like wildfire and has not stopped yet. It took many lives and thousands of people all over the globe are fighting it as you are reading this. But with all human actions slowing down and countries going into lockdowns, some changes in nature could easily be noticed. Life in China, and especially in Wuhan, has slowed down, if not completely stopped. Factories stopped working and roads were empty. The next...
Take Action
We live in an age where many of us don’t want to take action and normalize situations we can help to change. Like Albert Einstein once said “ The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil ,but by those who watch them without doing anything.” For the past years the same problems have been recurring and get worse everyday, and I want to point out some things we know are happening but that tend to ignore We have been fooled into believing that only the rich and powerful, with tools and methods can make the world a better place. The rich and powerful claim to fight for social justice, but...
Celebration of Earth Day
Hi, I am Alex. Let's deflect our thoughts a bit from a current coronavirus situation and think for a second about our Planet Earth. We celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd every year and on that occasion we remind ourselves how each of us can contribute to preserving our precious planet and keeping it safe and healthy for the generations to come. After all it is the only planet where people can live and therefore we should be aware how do we behave in turn. So, here are some practical examples that I stick to in my daily life, you might find them interesting and useful: I recycle and separate...
Bella Ciao : The plight of the farmers, fascism and coronavirus
If you’ve watched the acclaimed Netflix original ‘La Case de Papel’ (Money Heist), there is a high likelihood you remember the tune of Bella Ciao which represents the essence of the show as an anthem of resistance. It has featured on the show several times- the first time being an iconic scene in which The Professor and his brother, Berlin, break out into the song while at the dinner table during the night before their heist. Since then, it has taken over the minds of fans, its infectious melody playing on repeat. However, it shouldn’t simply be known as a catchy song from that famous TV show...
Earth – The colorful "ball" we live on
This colorful “Ball” we live on is called Earth. Earth is rich in water, mountains, ores, plains, plants, animals. The countries are rich in nations, cultures, differences, specialties. Let's do our best to make our “Ball” greener, more colorful, happier. Every year, on April 22, we celebrate Earth Day. Earth is our home and we are all responsible for it – children, young people and the elderly. We have a duty to take care of it and preserve it. Global environmental actions are slowly changing consciousness and the world, but time is running out. We urgently need to be informed better, more...

Pledge to act
We all are at the verge of destruction if we fail to prevent the adverse effects of climate change. Humans have already done enough damage and now is the time to heal the planet. We must reduce carbon emissions as much as possible and at individual level we all must start planting trees to reduce the effects of global warming and further prevent the leftover earth’s natural flora and fauna. It is time to act, to heal. Let's pledge to not harm the environment when this quarantine is over. #manforclimate
