We need to change society
On March 15, 2019, the Muslim community witnessed a horrific act. An Australian man by the name of Brenton Harrison Tarrant attacked Muslims at a mosque. Last I watched the news it was stated that 50 people were killed and an additional 50 were wounded or in critical condition. I felt great sadness and despair as I watched the news because It seems like every other day you turn on the news people are being killed at the hands of terrorists or gunmen. When are WE as a society going to put a stop to such acts of hatred and fight for what's right? In the world that we live today such things as...
The end to violence is long overdue
Violence is brought up by hatred A feeling so deep all you can do is ask “why me?” I have seen this violence with my own eyes But I am not proud to say I have seen some die We as a society have gone through great ordeals of pain This violence will not only leave you beaten and battered physically But mentally too This is “giving to the world a tired and ugly message of terror and brutality and hate” They have left us here to rot in poverty in such a corrupted place We have to fight and break free from this cycle of violence For change To end the bad path that was set for your kids and mine We...
Childhood needs peace
As a child, you have dreams, wishes and happiness. A child just wants to play in a room. A child just wants to be a superhero and stand together with his family. A child wants to experience happiness. The current situation and the war is a nightmare for the children. They are afraid, afraid. Every day, every hour, every minute and every second. You hear explosions. What about her friends and relatives? Fear is growing. Are you okay? Are they still alive? Childhood needs peace. Due to the war, children cannot go to school, even though they want to. Children have dreams, even in war. We must do...
Why non-formal education is important (my experience)
In today's blog, I want to share why non-formal education is important. Before all, we need to understand the difference between non-formal and formal education. Formal education is the one that is provided in accredited educational institutions. While non-formal education is any form of education that does not lead to the acquisition of new qualifications or diplomas but includes organized learning processes or the improvement of personal and professional skills.
Youth is Victory
Society is a community or group of people having common traditions, institutions, interests, beliefs, purposes in association with others. Society consists of different people - elderly, adults, and youth, with the same goal or purpose: achieving victory for their land. This victory can be achieved in different ways, and one is by educating and enhancing youth. There are different ways of educating and enhancing youth for the future of society or even the country. First on the list is teaching them social skills and making them engage in social activities for good purpose and cause. This skill...
Youth as Agents of Nation Building
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank, 'Anne Frank's Tales From The Secret Annex'. Youth are slowly taking over the world. Today, there are 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24 years, accounting for 16 per cent of the global population (United Nations n.d.). Youth are the torchbearers of the world and it is only right that we guide them by developing their skills, uplifting their spirits, holding them accountable, and believing in them as the future leaders and pioneers of society. Unbeknown to others, the effectiveness...
Education for Rural Youth
Education is an important thing that must be considered and obtained by everyone, including young people. At least everyone should have general knowledge to carry out their daily lives, develop their innovation and creativity. However, it turns out that not all young people get sufficient support to develop and broaden their horizons, one of which is in rural areas where sometimes there are still gaps and lack of support from the government so that they are left behind with young people in urban areas. Even though they also have the opportunity to get support and create new ideas that can...

Stop Bullying!
Hello, my friends! This is my message to you and our parents! I'd like to give some advice on the problem of bullying and I want to tell what bullying is and how to struggle with it. Bullying is an aggressive relation of children against other children, the stronger ones hurt the weaker ones. Bullying can be physical and psychological, but most often psychological. Psychological bullying is calling bad and upset words, spreading rumors and gossip, boycotting. Fortunately I have never faced such problems. But I can see how it happens even in my school. And what is worse, I understand that I...
The Click moment: Seizing the opportunity and bridging the digital divide
I was 13 years old when my history teacher showed me and my classmates the video taken during the Santa Cruz Massacre in Timor-Leste, just 23 years prior. She told us that it was because of that video that the whole world knew what was happening in Timor and pressured countries to help Timor-Leste become an independent country. As I went home that day, with those images in my mind, I asked my parents why they decided to move from Brazil (our home country) to a torn apart nation. Surprisingly, they told me it was because 23 years ago, they saw that exact same footage. This has stuck with me...

Education system failing
I believe our education system is failing. These days, it appears that it isn't much about learning. It seems to be all about tests, grades, and your school's average grade or percentage. I believe many students aren't really gaining any knowledge at all. Grades are determining how smart we are or what schools we qualify to enter. Grades shouldn't determine this at all. Everybody is smart in their own way. Some teachers only care about themselves, their reputations and how they look to their school. Also, some teachers move on from lesson to lesson without taking the time to pause and see if...
